Kotli Bhel Trek

Kotli Bhel Trek

Overview

The Kotli Bhel Trek, often called the Mini Gartang Gali of Rishikesh, is an ancient trail that leads to the holy sites in the Himalayas. This route, once used by pilgrims, offers a glimpse into the region’s past and takes trekkers through scenic mountain landscapes. The trek starts at Kaudiyala or Mahadev Chatti, both close to Rishikesh, and passes through rocky paths and lush forested areas along the Ganga River, with awe-inspiring views of the river and valleys below. It is still being discovered and provides a one day trekking opportunity amidst the mountains and the beautiful Ganges river. One hikes down for about 7 kms , encountering waterfall on the way, then crossing a wooden bridge and reaching the shore of the Ganges. The walk is along the Ganges river and hike back is the same way.

Kotli Bhel is a moderate trek suitable for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those wanting a quiet adventure. The trail has an old-world charm, similar to the more popular Gartang Gali trail located in Gangotri, it still remains less crowded and offers a peaceful hiking experience. Along the way, trekkers encounter stone pathways and walk on wooden bridges which adds to the rustic charm and gives a feeling of the timeless atmosphere. This trek gives a unique chance to experience the natural beauty of the Himalayas and offers glimpses of the region’s traditional routes, once vital for pilgrimage and trade.
