Chopta Chandrashila Tungnath trek with Deoriatal

The Chopta Chandrashila Tungnath Trek with Deoriatal is a popular trek in Garhwal Uttarakhand, starting from sari village from where the trek starts to Deoriatal lake, an approx 2.5 kms climb, where trekkers camp at night. Deoriatala is a high-altitude lake surrounded by forests and snow peaks, the trek provides stunning reflections of the Chaukhamba range on the lake’s surface, offering a perfect blend of adventure, spirituality, and natural beauty. 

The trail then leads to Chopta, often referred to as the “ Switzerland of India,” a 14 kms walk through the forest next day. From here trekkers ascend the next morning to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, situated at 3,680 meters (12,073 feet). The spiritual atmosphere and surrounding himalayan peaks makes it an incredible hault before we begin the climb for Chandrashila summit.

Chandrashila summit is a slightly steep climb of about 1.5 kms perched at 4,000 meters (13,123 feet), offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the Garhwal Himalayas, including peaks like Nanda Devi and Trishul. The trek is easy to moderate in difficulty, accessible year-round, and ideal for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
